Rocketing down face first on a luge course at over 130 KM per hour with no brakes or steering is my definition of insane. At that speed, one could travel from Regina to Saskatoon in under two hours. What a rush!

I would have to agree from watching the Olympic qualifiers for skeleton the other day…

豆しば 「mameshiba」

What exactly is Mameshiba? They’re not quite a bean, nor a dog, but rather a hybrid of both. They love to appear out of nowhere and offer random bits of trivia whether you asked for it or not…

People are so cruel…

photo MIT researchers have demonstrated the first laser built from germanium that can produce wavelengths of light useful for optical communication. It’s also the first germanium laser to operate at room temperature. Unlike the materials typically used in lasers, germanium is easy to incorporate into existing processes for manufacturing silicon chips. So the result could prove an important step toward computers that move data — and maybe even perform calculations — using light instead of electricity. But more fundamentally, the researchers have shown that, contrary to prior belief, a class of materials called indirect-band-gap semiconductors can yield practical lasers.

photo You can do better than that Microsoft… [although it would be convenient if you didn’t =P] At least the iPhone and Nexus/Android were improvements. Can anyone say stale marketing campaign?

That’s awesome… The power of jquery/xhtml/webkit.

As long as there are people alive who have not yet found the genius of Ferry Halim, we will continue to link him from time to time. These simple flash games might be old, but they’re still far far beyond what most of the Internet is doing with simple flash games. Today we’re chilly, so we’re playing Winterbells.

aww. how cute. I actually wish I could make flash stuff that looked that good…
